A short flight away is Brooks Camp. Originally set aside because of the volcanic history of this part of Alaska, it was soon designated as one of the great bar preserves in the world. You can sit and watch bears try to catch sockeye salmon jumping up the falls in this river that is a little more than a mile long. Brooks River is also full of rainbow trout and is one of the few places in the world where you can fish with the bears. If you want go please let us know and we can have a world class bear viewing opportunity for you and your family arranged.

Returning on my third trip at Bear Claw Lodge! I have been hunting and fishing Alaska for over 30+ years and found this Lodge to be the most versatile of all. Great Fishing, BIG variety of fish, fantastic accommodations lodge-food. All gear covered, boots, waders, rods and reels and all Sims equipment. Knowledge friendly guides and fish packing included. Out of all the outfits I have been to he is priced right for all you get, and all you need to bring is your clothes.

5 Star Alaskan Fishing Trip My wife and I booked a trip in late July for the Great Alaskan Trout adventure — and we were not disappointed! The lodge, food, staff, and guides were all top-notch. From the moment we arrived in Dillingham, we felt like we were among friends.
The meals were excellent, and the kitchen team was very accommodating of my shellfish allergy — no issues even when shrimp or clams were on the menu. After a full day on the river or hiking creeks, the lodge was the perfect place to relax and unwind.
One of the things we enjoyed most was dining with the guides each day. It made the whole experience feel personal — more like fishing with friends than a client-guide setup. Many of the guides have fished these waters for several seasons and know the area inside and out.
We honestly lost count of how many trout, Arctic char, Dolly Varden, and grayling we caught each day. Watching a massive 20+ inch rainbow rise to take a dry fly was an unforgettable moment — and one that will definitely bring us back!

Trip of a Lifetime at Alaska’s Bear Claw Lodge I took my family of six, my nephew, and three friends to Bear Claw Lodge in August 2025, and it was truly the trip of a lifetime. Every single one of us caught trophy rainbows, arctic char, graylings, and salmon—day after day of unbelievable fishing. The fly fishing was world-class, the guides were top-notch, and the food was absolutely fantastic.
I’ve fished all over—Rocky Mountains (my home base near Yellowstone, Montana, Utah, and Wyoming), seven trips to Alaska, Canada, Mexico, deep sea off California, and even Brazil for peacock bass in the Amazon—and I can honestly say this ranks among the very best experiences anywhere.
The fishing, lodging, guiding, and meals were all five-star quality. The entire experience was delightful from start to finish. If you’re thinking about fishing Alaska, stop thinking and just book it. You want to go here. I absolutely will be returning.

Fly fishing Alaska I stayed at Bearclaw Lodge last August with 9 other friends and had a great time The accommodations were nice. I shared a comfortable room w/a fellow angler. The guides were very good and we caught a lot of trophy sized fish. Since this was my first trip to Alaska, I don't have any other lodges to compare it to but I would go back for the fly-fishing.
