A short flight away is Brooks Camp. Originally set aside because of the volcanic history of this part of Alaska, it was soon designated as one of the great bar preserves in the world. You can sit and watch bears try to catch sockeye salmon jumping up the falls in this river that is a little more than a mile long. Brooks River is also full of rainbow trout and is one of the few places in the world where you can fish with the bears.
